Loving Others: Ted Lasso
Ted Lasso was a college football coach from Kansas, that was recruited to coach a professional soccer team in England, without knowing a single thing about the sport. Unbeknownst to Ted, the owner of the soccer team hired him in an attempt to ruin the club as an act of revenge on the previous owner, her ex-husband. Despite his lack of knowledge, Ted accepts the coaching position. Everyone he meets along the way mocks and insults him, but through it all, he remains one of the kindest characters to ever be on screen. The show follows him as he learns his way around both the new sport and new country, all while improving the lives of those around him with his unwavering kindness. Prior to this clip, Ted and his boss are being harassed in a pub by her ex-husband, Rupert. Instead of lashing out and starting a fight, Ted decides to use the situation as a teaching moment, and that’s where the clip begins.
Ted is full of great advice, but this clip in particular explains how he is so good at loving others. He understands that there are factors beneath the surface affecting how people interact, so remains curious and extends kindness instead of acting on his initial judgments.
