EM LETTER or EMAIL INVITE

Hey, I hope all is well.

I am getting ready to lead a group of guys in The Everyman Challenge and thought of you! You probably have not heard of The Everyman Challenge. It can be a little tough to explain because it differs from pretty much anything you or I have ever experienced. Let me start with this…

For many guys, we start life with big dreams and ambitions. Fond memories of these times shared with close friends are often the first stories to come out around a campfire or while manning the grill with a friend. But, somewhere along the way, life happens.

After years of moving down the American Dream conveyor belt, we feel duped. We may have the girl, the job, the house, the kids, the toys… and yet we feel alone in a crowd of people. We know many people, but we don’t KNOW them like we knew our buddies back in the day. We are doing our best to catch up, save, get ahead, and do damage control on the time we miss out with family. It is rare for a guy to feel like what he does and who he is, is purposeful. Most of us live for the hope of weekends and vacations, which rarely scratch the itch or provide the rest and rejuvenation we desperately crave. “Some day” is off in the distance. Some day being the time when we hope we will have enough money, enough time, enough whatever it is that will change the game.

Many of us feel like we are doing our best, which is barely good enough at work and home. We live with a hidden stress that rears its ugly head at the weirdest times, saying things we regret in a way that only furthers our anxiety and doubt. We find ways to get by, ways to escape that cause shame, or we just check out in front of the TV. Any of this close to home? You are not alone!

What if it could be different? What if what Jesus said was actually true? What if he came not only so that we could escape hell but to live a life of purpose, passion, and fullness? What if he really does heal, restore, and transform? What if all of this happens and you don’t turn into Ned Flanders (remember that goofy–Hidey-Ho-Neighbor-guy from the Simpsons who was a cross between Mr. Rogers and a TV preacher)?

This is what The Everyman Challenge is all about. It is men who crave more and are tired of settling for mediocrity. Men who are ready to get off the couch and do something more than grumble about the way things should be. Men doing stuff outside the norm for a purpose greater than a two-hour escape from reality. Men who are sick of surface-level, water cooler BS and want to engage with other men in a meaningful way that makes a difference. Men who recognize that money and security aren’t all it’s cracked up to be and are ready to dig into a deeper purpose. Men who want to live up to their God-given potential and be the friends, husbands, and fathers they crave to be.

The Everyman Challenge is six months. It starts in May and ends in October. In those months, you’ll likely laugh ‘til your sides hurt with fun and engaging activities, and you will engage with guys on a level you haven’t seen for years. Personal challenges will be presented to you, and you will choose how you will invest in them. You will find yourself challenged in the way you think about yourself, God, and your place in this world.

Sound good? Yeah, I thought so. I want to engage in this thing together.

If you can think of someone else interested, grab that guy and have him join us as well.
